This Marketwatch story hints that it is. A plausible one, because the yen carry trade took place in the backdrop of an economy that stagnated long-term. Increasingly, the U.S. economy isn't resembling Japan's lost-decade economy. So, there's an added unpredictability factor that carry-trade participants don't really need.
Wouldn't it be something if the much-talked-about carry trade proved merely to be the flavor of the year?
